What is Nano Banana?

Nano Banana is Google's production image generation family on FlyAIgh, ported from the Gemini image stack. Two variants: Nano Banana 2 is the everyday workhorse at 3 credits per image, and Nano Banana Pro is the flagship at 5 credits per image with 4K output and AI image editing.

Nano Banana 2 covers the basics: text-to-image, five aspect ratios (1:1, 16:9, 9:16, 4:3, 3:4), and quality output suitable for social, blog illustrations, and prompt iteration. It is the right pick when you're generating many variants and don't yet need final-deliverable resolution.

Nano Banana Pro upgrades on three axes. First, output goes to 4K — useful for print, banner ads and any context where you'll crop in or scale up. Second, it supports image-to-image editing: supply up to 8 reference images plus a text instruction ('replace the background with a snowy mountain', 'change the jacket to red') and the model produces an edited version. Third, the underlying model has noticeably better text rendering and finer detail handling, which makes it the workhorse for hero shots and product photography.

Nano Banana is particularly strong at photorealism, faces, hands (notoriously hard for image models) and on-image text. It is weaker than Midjourney v7 for highly stylized illustration and weaker than WAN 2.7 Pro for ultra-fine detail at 4K. Pick Nano Banana when realism, text-on-image and editing capability matter; pick Midjourney or WAN when you want a more distinct aesthetic.

Both variants are available on every plan including Free.
